Surprise welcome home, Shania!

Sunday was Shania's cousin's birthday, so her family lured her to a rancho for the celebration.  Only the celebration was actually a welcome home!  Her mom had told her she wasn't dressed up enough and that her cousin would be all dolled up, so she needed to change.  Ha!

The only minor glitch was when she walked in and saw a friend from the English office who would have no reason to know her cousin.
"Oops!"
"What are you doing here?"
"Oh.  You didn't know?  Sorry!"
Aw, gees.

Many of the Inglés en Primaria and Centro de Idiomas friends.

Shania's family

Once upon a time, there were two exchange teachers....

They shared a wonderful friend named Alma...

Shania and Neyva listen to the "speeches" and welcomes home from their friends.

Neyva was such fun on the way back from Mazatlán, I feel like we're already good friends (even though she's 22).  I wanted a picture with her, but her mouth was full of taco!

There's a good one!

We had a good time at the party.  Shania, of course, was on a mission to find me a honey (disappointed that I hadn't fallen madly in love and decided to stay here forever!) and introduced me to several people.  Her goal, though, was Manuel, who works in Kuwa (the buchon "ghetto" club and who unfortunately has braces).  He was nice enough.  But with just 6 weeks left, I'm not real open to falling madly in love.
We had incredible tacos (oddly enough, the mercado has nothing on these) and botanas (appetizers, more or less).  Being a Sunday, I had to work the next day, as did most of the people there.  Ni modo.  We didn't leave until midnight, when we started cleaning up and shutting down.  I had a great time with Shania's family and am so glad she's back!
