Checking the Mail

Welp, after finding out on October 14, 2006 that the deadline for the Fulbright application for the following school year was October 15, I prepared for a year to apply in 07. I sent in my stuff and was PUMPED to get the peer interview in December (I kinda think everyone gets one, but either way I felt lucky). Then I saw online that I would be notified in January of my status- aka whether I was accepted or not. Since I got back from Colorado- January 8 mind you- I have faithfully checked the mailbox. Even on holidays and Sundays just to make sure I didn't miss something the day before! Yesterday afternoon I was checking when I saw the manila envelope that could only belong to the Department of State. Plain, straightforward, not see-through enough to tell what the contents said. I opened it and felt so sick to my stomach. And there was one sheet accepting me! Now, though, there's still no guarantee I'll go... I just wait until-get this- JUNE to see if there's a match. If there is a match, I could potentially know as soon as March, but it could be as late as May. If there is not a match, they'll let me know by June and man will I be bummed...
